For the past month I have been working as a Marketing Intern here at 07 Heaven Design, and I have absolutely loved it!
I wasn't 100% sure what to expect before starting, I have always wanted to pursue Digital Marketing so I was looking forward to seeing what I would be doing during my one month placement.
From the first day I knew that I was doing what I enjoyed. I was given freedom over my own work from the very beginning, I would be asked to write a blog and the rest was up to me! This was quite daunting at first as I had never done anything like this before, and it would be published for all to see. Yet, once the first one was launched, I really got stuck into it and loved putting them all together. Then it was time to get interactive on Social Media, taking control of the Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and Google+ accounts (no pressure!), which I really enjoyed, as I got to grips with the different ways in which you can interact with an online audience.
It has definitely taken me out of my comfort zone! The most prominent example of that was going to a local Secondary School to assist Luke at a presentation he was giving, just to take some pictures, and ended up being asked if I could stand up and speak to the students about my experience as an intern. Although a bit scary at first, it taught me that speaking to a large room of students isn't actually as daunting as you would expect it to be.. thankfully!
I was responsible for creating offers and launching them, such as e-books, infographics and 'top tip' documents. It was great to get to grips with the more creative side of Digital Marketing, and soon became best friends with programmes such as Illustrator and Fireworks, which are great skills to take away with me.
I have really enjoyed my internship at 07 Heaven. Luke was always offering his help and assistance and taught me various skills and tricks, and all of the staff were very welcoming. I have learnt much more than I ever imagined I would, and has really challenged me. From day one I was trusted with various tasks and became responsible for the marketing side of the company. It has reassured me that this is a career I want to pursue, and this experience has been completely invaluable. I've loved it so much they haven't been able to get rid of me and I'll be popping in and out for a day or two throughout the Summer to build up my experience a bit more.
Thank you 07 Heaven, it has been a great month and I will never forget how much it has taught me!
